We reviewed the total sample results and were very encouraged by the results.
Determine if data should be grouped differently and run again.
Data was separated by teachers who taught core subjects only and those that teach a core subject and a literacy class. Do teachers with no prior knowledge of the reading strategies use them? Analysis of data is still in progress. Identify strengths and weaknesses in regards to writing and reading across all courses.
Identify strengths and needs regarding sharing a common vocabulary.
Identify strengths and needs regarding knowledge and use of comprehension strategies.
Brainstorm possible areas of staff development.

In planning for Reading and Writing across the curriculum, it is important to decide on a focus for this committee.
Suggestions:
Making connections between the Text Features unit taught during Literacy class and content area subjects.
Investigating the use of the CSI materials being piloted by the Reading Specialist.
Creating a survey to investigate teachers use of strategies and writing in their classes.
Developing a common vocabulary that can be used between content area and literacy teachers.
Collecting examples of student writing that can be shared between teachers.
Student work can be used as a commonality.
Looking at student data - using PSSA results etc so as to drive instructions.
Review the PA Writing Rubric.
Incorporate Collins Writing in all Content Area subjects.
Literacy class - recording where comprehension strategies are being used.
Discussed use of Super 7 Strategies handout for use in content areas.
