7th Grade English meeting (Room 241)
The group decided to create a new common assessment for 7th grade grammar (verb, adverb, preposition, conjunction and interjection). This will be started at the March 4th meeting.
Each team will select one of the following writing prompts as a common assessment: relive, classroom rules, daily item.
February 18, 2009 6th Grade Meetings
We discussed curriculum: Aesop's Fables Scavenger Hunt, common assessments-sentence parts, nouns, possessives, Abravocabra Vocabulary, drama: "Phantom Tollbooth." We went over the 6th grade grammar curriculum expectations.
February 4, 2009 6th Grade Meetings
Prior to today's meeting we met with John Sanville and Bruce Vosburgh to discuss the grammar curriculum and shared various materials and student work. Today, Jenny Steinen shared a needs assessment with us that parallels the Monday after school literacy professional development committee. We also discussed student needs, looked a student work, shared written activities. These are some of the topics discussed: portfolio reflections, subject/predicate song, editing rubric, linking verb song, and student grammatical weaknesses.

~ Currently everyone is finishing the play unit.
~ Planning grammar and novel unit
~ Our students need direct instruction with capital letters and punctuation.
~ We need to create lessons for colon and semicolons
